As the former dean of a private school, I know how it works. I know the pressure our far-right lawmakers are under to support their private school and elite coffers.

The money they siphon away isn’t enough for an economically disadvantaged child to go to a private school, but it makes a nice discount for those who are already attending.

It’s not just unethical — it’s unconstitutional.

Let’s fund our public schools properly and give them the tools they need to strengthen the education they provide. And let’s make sure our kids are ready for whatever the future brings them — whether that’s the job market, the military, trade school, community college, or high-ranking university.
